Greetings from Tiptree

July 24th, 2009

Many of you will no doubt be aware that Second Sight is based in Tiptree, Essex which has two claims to fame. The first obviously, is that it is where the best Countryside and Machinery DVDs are produced and secondly, Tiptree is the home of Wilkin & Sons - makers of Jam and Conserves by Royal Appointment. It therefore makes perfect sense that Wilkins frequently call on our services and most recently we have been commissioned to film and produce a new corporate DVD to be viewed by visitors to the Tiptree Jam Museum as well as being sent to potential new clients and interested parties in order to demonstrate the breadth and vision of the company. Alan has spent many a happy hour - usually at the crack of dawn, filming amongst an amazing variety of fruit grown locally and often returning with some delicious spoils! More filming is yet to take place inside the Jam Factory which is just a stones throw away from our office, and the intensity of the smells pervading the air around us is sometimes quite overwhelming - I personally prefer a ‘chutney’ day to a ‘jam’ day and tend to avoid a ‘marmalade’ day if possible! The Jam factory is a huge employer in the area and still uses a hooter at the start and end of each day. The history of the company is fascinating, dating back to 1885 and I thoroughly recommend a visit to the museum and tea rooms if you are in the area. For more information about Wilkin & Sons you can also visit their web site http://www.tiptree.com or if you are popping out to the shops, pick up a jar of the famous Tiptree Little Scarlet Conserve.

More Monsters

July 23rd, 2009

Harvester fans have yet another treat in store, with a fourth in the series now completed. Monster’s of the Grassland is a compelling and comprehensive story of the Forage Harvester. Alan spent some exciting time filming Dengie Crops on the Tendring peninsular, performing all sorts of precarious feats and high speed harvester chasing in order to get some brilliant footage of their Grassland Monster’s in action for the programme.
